Dana 16. i 17. svibnja 2025. Budimpešta je ugostila sudionike projekta Paddle for the Earth na dvodnevnom međunarodnom susretu ispunjenom edukacijom, akcijom i međukulturnom razmjenom. Domaćin događanja bio je Budapest Association for International Sports (Mađarska), a sudjelovali su nositelj projekta Kajak kanu kluba Mladost (Hrvatska) i partneri iz Caritasa Zagrebačke nadbiskupije (Hrvatska) i Kajakaškog društva Brkati som (Slovenija).
Susret je organiziran u sklopu projekta Paddle for the Earth, sufinanciranog iz programa Erasmus+ Sport, koji promiče održivo veslanje, ekološku edukaciju i uključiv pristup sportovima na vodi.
1. dan – Radionica o održivim praksama u sportu
Prvi dan, 16. svibnja, održana je interaktivna radionica na temu održivih praksi u sportovima na otvorenom. Sudionici su raspravljali o izazovima i prilikama za uvođenje ekoloških mjera u svakodnevni rad svojih klubova i udruga, od čišćenja okoliša, do zamjene plastike i jednokratne opreme održivim alternativama.
Dan je završio zajedničkom večerom u centru Budimpešte, gdje su se partneri nastavili družiti i razmjenjivati ideje u opuštenoj atmosferi.
2. dan – Čišćenje rijeke i kulturna razmjena na Dunavu
Sljedeći dan, 17. svibnja, sudionici su se uputili na veslanje u dragon boatu po kanalu Dunava, tijekom kojeg su skupljali otpad iz rijeke. U aktivnosti su se uključili partneri projekta, volonteri te brojni građani Budimpešte različitog kulturnog porijekla.
Ova jedinstvena kombinacija sporta, ekologije i interkulturalnog dijaloga odraz je ciljeva projekta Paddle for the Earth, stvaranje održivijeg i povezanijeg društva kroz zajedničko djelovanje. Dan je završen zajedničkim ručkom i neformalnim druženjem, uz razmjenu dojmova i planove za buduću suradnju.
Zašto je ovo važno?
Ova aktivnost u Budimpešti savršeno oslikava temeljne vrijednosti projekta Paddle for the Earth:

Projekt se nastavlja s nizom lokalnih akcija, edukacija i čišćenja Rijeka, sve u cilju zdravijeg okoliša i snažnije europske povezanosti.
Što slijedi?
Do kraja projekta, svi partneri će nastaviti s provedbom svojih lokalnih aktivnosti, uključujući edukacije, sportove na vodi i ekološke inicijative u svojim zajednicama. Završni sastanak partnera održat će se u Zagrebu, gdje će se izraditi završno izvješće o provedenim aktivnostima i zajedničkim postignućima projekta Paddle for the Earth.
Paddle for the Earth: Partners Gather in Budapest for Sustainability and Sport
On May 16 and 17, 2025, Budapest hosted the participants of the Paddle for the Earth project for a two-day international gathering filled with education, action, and intercultural exchange. The event was hosted by the Budapest Association for International Sports (Hungary) and brought together the project coordinator Kajak Kanu Klub Mladost (Croatia) along with partners from Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb (Croatia) and Kajakaško društvo Brkati som (Slovenia).
The meeting was organized as part of the Paddle for the Earth project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Sport programme, which promotes sustainable paddling, environmental education, and inclusive access to water sports.
Day 1 – Workshop on Sustainable Practices in Sports
On the first day, May 16, an interactive workshop was held on the topic of sustainable practices in outdoor sports. Participants discussed challenges and opportunities in implementing eco-friendly measures in the daily operations of their clubs and organizations from environmental clean-ups to replacing plastic and disposable equipment with sustainable alternatives.
The day ended with a shared dinner in central Budapest, where partners continued exchanging ideas and socializing in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 2 – River Cleanup and Cultural Exchange on the Danube
The following day, May 17, participants took part in a dragon boat paddling activity on the Danube canal, during which they collected waste from the river. The activity included project partners, volunteers, and numerous residents of Budapest from various cultural backgrounds.
This unique combination of sport, environmental action, and intercultural dialogue reflects the goals of the Paddle for the Earth project: to build a more sustainable and connected society through joint action. The day concluded with a group lunch and informal gathering, allowing participants to exchange impressions and discuss future collaboration.

Until the end of the project, all partners will continue implementing local activities including educational workshops, water sports, and environmental initiatives within their communities. The final partner meeting will be held in Zagreb, where a comprehensive report will be created to summarize the activities carried out and the collective achievements of the Paddle for the Earth project.
